Stationery Designer & Keepsake Artist
Hi there! My name is Elizabeth, though most people call me Libby. I’ve been making art (of all kinds!) for my whole life. (I even have funky salt-dough ornaments to show for my early toddler years as a creative! My mom saved everything…)
I have always loved to create cards, prints, and graphics that inspire, encourage, or tell a story. Now with modern calligraphy (aka hand lettering) as my latest art-crush in my creative tool belt, I’ve joined hand lettering together with my background in photography, fine art, and graphic design…and I’m in heaven! Hand lettering might be my love language…
It would be an honor and delight to create something lovely and unique for you to treasure or share with your favorite people.
A few fun facts about this lettering-Libby:
- I have small town roots in Northern California (third generation native of the gold country!), but North Dallas is where I transplanted. I still miss my (many!) cousins, open spaces, trees, and rivers, but suburbia has its definite perks, and the people here make Texas feel like home.
- Seeing my artwork “in real life”–framed, displayed, or stuck to a fridge, you know–is still one of the best ways to make me happy dance. It’s so fun to see how people put my work up to enjoy. So please tag me when you show it off online or send me a photo so I can see!
- I’m married to a Texas native sweetheart, though he doesn’t have a Southern accent; I sure thought moving to the South would mean my future kids would take on their dad’s Texas drawl. Oh well! He’s still a keeper and I count myself blessed to have been chosen by him. BONUS: He even goes to the craft or hardware store with me, and will EVEN ask if I need anything, should he happen to be running errands near one of my favorite art supplies stores. He’s the best!
- My favorite photographer is Dorothea Lange. Her lens into real life, of real people, truly speaks to my old soul, and my longing to connect with people beyond the basics.
- My favorite design era is probably Art Deco. The 1920s and 1930s had a tremendous influence on design we admire to this day, and with a vintage vibe, it still holds up as classic, modern, functional, and sophisticated with an timeless energy.
- Why is it that sandwiches taste better when someone else makes them? My grandma’s peanut butter and jam sandwiches will probably always be a favorite. Her trick was spreading actual butter on the side with the jam! Of course, her homemade peach preserves were probably the ultimate reason they were the best.
